Reading peyups articles has this mystic consequence of suddenly taking you to some remote valley of human emotion. I was busy with this funny collection of college–related nuggets of information, as well as this painfully beautiful love article and this excellent review of Charlie Kaufman’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; and by the end of the afternoon I was looking at this famous exchange from the movie As Good As It Gets.
Carol (Helen Hunt): Come on in, and try not to ruin everything by being you.
Melvin (Jack Nicholson): I’ve got a really great compliment for you, and its true.
Carol: I’m so afraid you’re about to say something awful.
Melvin: Don’t be pessimistic, it’s not your style. Anyway, here goes: I’ve got this, what, ailment. Now, my doctor, this shrink I used to go to all the time, says that in fifty to sixty percent of cases, a pill really helps. I HATE pills, hate them. I’m using the word “hate” about pills. Anyway, my compliment to you is the night after you came over and said that you would never . . . well, you were there, you know what you said. Anyway, the very next morning, I started taking the pills.
Carol: I don’t quite get how that’s a compliment for me.
Melvin: You make me want to be a better man.
Carol: That’s maybe the best compliment of my life.
Melvin: Well maybe I overshot a little, because I was aiming at just enough to keep you from walking out.
“You make me want to be a better man.”
Nice, ain’t it? Some afternoons just have this magic of turning itself into poignant spans of seemingly eternal minutes and hours.

Around 11 PM last night we had coffee at Starbucks. In Tagaytay. My friends came up with this brilliant idea of driving to Tagaytay just an hour before midnight, just to enjoy a cup of coffee and a bottle of beer from the bar next door.
Just as we were about to leave the *soooperhighway* via the Sta. Rosa Exit, Joey decided to share a nice text joke with everyone:
Meron akong friend name nya joseph rotgam. Hanggang ngayn di nya mapatawad parents nya.
Everyone got the joke except for three of us, all of them Ilocanos. Ramil thinks it’s has some sort of correlation. Ewan ko ha, pero alam ko hindi ako matigil sa kakatawa habang binabasa ni Arvi yung joke para mahanap yung solution!” Hehehe.
So, nakuha mo ba yung joke? Don’t spoil it for everyone.

It has been more than a week since I last wrote, and still I have nothing worthy of blogging. So I’ll just bore you with some music recommendations.
- Vienna Teng - Both Waking Hour and the newer Warm Strangers are worthy of iPod storage, if only I have one. My favorite tracks: “Harbor,” “Shasta (Carrie’s Song),” “Hope on Fire” and “Shine”.
- Rivermaya’s new single “Liwanag sa Dilim,” another beautiful song by Rico Blanco, no doubt. By the way, I have the lyrics to the song on my lyrics blog. (Just a personal lyrics/chords archive.)
- Alicia Keys and Usher singing “If I Ain’t Got You.” A very nice song made even better with Usher’s wonderful voice.
- Duncan Shiek’s “Half-Life.”
“Maybe, I need to see the daylight
To leave behind this half-life
Don’t you see I’m breaking down”
- Usher’s “Confessions.” Yes, the whole album.
- Bob Carlisle’s “Butterfly Kisses.” I don’t really know why, but I just realized last night how meaningful this song is.
- Tamia’s “Officially Missing You.”
So, what are your current music favorites? Share.

Above are some photos from last Saturday’s PSHS Homecoming, and the rest are in the “2004 PSHS Homecoming” album in my photos section. To be more precise, these photos were taken after the program proper, when most of Pisay ‘96 were in Moomba for some chit–chat over beer and nachos.
Leave your thoughts and comments.
