Twenty Ten

It’s already the second month of 2011 so I should do this now or just forget it—run my stats for 2010. I dread doing this every year since it just confirms how bad I’ve been blogging every year. From 2005 to 2009, there has been a constant decrease in my blogging frequency, resulting in less reader interaction. Of course, it also means traffic has not been at its best.

Here’s the data I’ve compiled last year:

Blog stats for 2005 to 2009.

For this year, I’ve only had 28 long–format blog posts, resulting in just 184 comments. Obviously, things aren’t great. My average post length is definitely lower year–to–year, even if I didn’t bother computing for an exact number.

At the beginning of 2010, I decided to stop sharing “recent links” or short posts, hoping it would persuade me to write proper entries more often. It didn’t help. The need to share interesting things with just brief commentary was too natural for me, and doing that only on twitter or facebook wasn’t enough. So I started doing short entries again last November. In just two months, I’ve shared my fair share of links and blogged a little since then.

Now all I gotta do is to all these things just a little bit more.
