To us PBA07–aware pinoy bloggers, can’t we all just agree to disagree?
There’s a lot more to talk about. After all, we aren’t the only ones blogging from this side of the planet. We’re just taking away the positive buzz with all this fuzz. (That rhyme was brought to you by the letter “B” and the number “7.”)
Try to see it my way,
Do I have to keep on talking till I can’t go on?
While you see it your way,
Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone.
We can work it out,
We can work it out.
A friendly game of blogger basketball, anyone? π
I’ve always made that call. No one heeded that.
Kasali ka rin sa no-CSS day? Your blog looks so weird hehehe All white.
Re the invocation issue. Let’s separate the issue from the personalities, period.
@benj: I’m a Catholic though I honestly understand how you feel that a prayer shouldn’t have been of the program, or should’ve been a much more generic one with a more general scope.
I think you’ve made your point quite well, and most of the organizers are quite apologetic about it. I don’t think we’re gonna see it in the next awards. However, I can see that you’ve been very busy responding to almost all blog entries that mention the prayer at the blog awards, even those that do not discuss its relevance but merely its novelty. You’ve already made your point, you need not launch a personal crusade to get everyone to notice your opinion. Free speech?
@Connie: Yep, no-CSS. Feels good. Nakikiuso. Hahaha!
The invocation issue has been getting too much mileage, besides there’s more to discuss related to the blog awards. Like iPAP for instance. Hehehe. Seriously, tama na. Everyone has spoken (written?) on this, now let’s just agree to disagree. Damn it. Hehehe! Peace. π
hi markku,
which blogs are we talking about? I think most blogs took notice of that and I don’t recall opening the topic to any blog that didn’t.
Benj, Rico’s post on BBN and Fr. Cuyos’s entry on the prayer itself had nothing to do with appropriateness or political correctness. In fact, there was no mention of you there at all. How do you expect a Catholic priest to pray? Certainly in both entries, you offered your opinions despite it not being directly relevant.
Like I’ve said, look at this problem as an issue of program/event planning, not an ideological one.
I hope you’re not doing this for linkbaiting, that would be so low. On the other hand, if you still invoke your atheistic view of the world, you should know you’re offending others by directly attacking their faith. Honestly, what do you want?
Live and let live, my friend. π
You just love to make assumptions and pass them for the truth, eh? If you truly believe that, then stop linking. I’m not really the type who would care about how many links I have. Jeez. So this what this thing has been reduced to? MORE ASSUMPTIONS? I think undermining my advocacy and reducing it to that is gravely insulting, but I guess resorting to peripheral issues has become a trend for the past few days.
Directly attacking their faith? Right. I don’t recall making a hateful remark against the entirety of christendom.
I think my response to Jorge was relevant. I have no idea how you deduced that I was off-topic.
Benj, what assumption did I make? That you’ve been commenting on this topic on every blog remotely related to the blog awards?
When I said “attacking their faith,” it could mean you raising the issue in Fr. Cuyos’s entry on the prayer itself. He’s a priest, how can you make him not pray a Christian prayer?
Perhaps your response to Jorge was relevant, maybe not. That’s your opinion, and that’s your right. I can live with that.
So what is your advocacy? What do you want? You never addressed that. Why don’t you get to the bottom of all this. And then everyone can talk about something else.
Pre, di ako magaling sa ball-handling. I’ll probably be a forward or center, so who’ll be our guards? π
Taralets! Let’s play basketball! Where’s Ely? Gail? Marc? at isa pang Marc?
Rico, I’ll do the guard duties and hope I’m still alive after the game! Let’s beat the girls! Hahaha.
wow. a game of basketball π
that would be fun to watch haha
it’s been a long time since i’ve played it like i’ve said in Jozzua’s blog π
timezone na lang π
@markku and benj: tama na yan, inuman na… joke lang. visit basangpanaginip’s post on Barack Obama’s video on “The political divide on religious lines” (or something). It’s long but worth pondering.
Markku will organize a basketball day!! yahoo!!
BADMINTON NIGHT EVERY TUESDAYS at West Badminton sa Kapitolyo from 9pm-12md. We’ll push thru again this Tues. Everyone is invited, just let us know.
i think the event went well naman, considering it’s the first event. parang ang bilis ngang na-organize eh.
markku jam na lang, vocalist din ata si benj π sino ba drummer na blogger? malay mo baka sumali si francis brew π
Well, that’s certainly a happy picture! π
About the prayer thing, I’m a Catholic and I think the prayer was witty..but I believe enough is enough. No more talk, it’s getting old. π Positivity naman dyan. =))
Uyyy badminton! Wheeee! Tamang-tama I gained weight from the Macalua Bataan/Pampanga expedition.
Sige basketball tayo! Hihihihi.
Well, for starters, recognizing that the blogosphere would be nice. Talking about it amplifies the message and it “finds” those who agree with this. A lot of people agree with it and a whole lot of other people have chosen to demonize me for posting about it instead of seeing the big picture that discrimination is being encouraged by someone in the corps of volunteers.
Like what I posted in my blog, I singled out two people. Those two were the most responsible regarding this particular issue. How other people interpreted that as a wholesale attack against a religion is beyond me. Should we really favor convenience over reform?
The way that one of the organizers is shamelessly defending one her lackeys is extremely disappointing. But that’s a totally different issue. I just think people have chosen to focus on the manner I posted my ideas rather than the meat of the matter itself. It frustrates me that people chooses the easy path by taking me down for the tone of the post rather than trying the understand why what happened was improper and why how that volunteer responded was equally out-of-line. Curiously, everyone has turned a blind eye towards that particular angle and people have instead focused on how strongly-worded my rebuke was.
Oh well.
I’m the new guy so it doesn’t come as a surprise.
^ haha. the first statement is totally screwed up.
Well, for starters, recognizing that the blogosphere is diverse would be nice.
Just read your comment, Markku. Thanks.
Ok, so it’s…
Jamming: I got a deep bass voice
Basketball: See comment regarding ball-handling skills
Goodminton: Game game game! π
@karla: Sama ka na muna sa badminton. π Mukhang matatagalan pa matuloy yung basketball eh, hehehe.
@Marcvill: Everything’s cool bro. I watched Barack Obama’s video, all 40 minutes of it, and it is very insightful.
Yes I will organize a basketball day, will find a way for that!
And yes tuloy pa rin ang badminton on Tuesdays. π
@rick: Considering everything, the blog awards was a huge success. Lalo na at nanalo ako. Hehe.
@jorge: Uy kumakanta si benj? Pwede! Madami na tayong gitarista, pero wala ngang drummer. Ade plays the bass, pero kaka-setup lang nya nung bago nyang band. Sandali, blogger din ba si francis brew?
@Tina: Positivity — I like that song. Hahaha. π Seriously, we’re all cool about this. Naintindihan naman natin lahat eh.
@Aileen: You don’t lose weight in badminton if you just stand there while playing, and then make chika sa bench 80% of the time. Hahaha! :p
@benj: Thanks for clarifying your side. I’m sure there’s a lot of good lessons to be learned from all this. π
@Rico: Are you willing to sing Crash Test Dummies songs? Hehehe.
@markku: oo blogger si francis brew… http://watdat.livejournal.com/ try mo hanapin ung entry nya about pat metheny ang kulit. pati girlfriend nya blogger din. tsk, drummer talaga ang hirap hanapin.
@rico: mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm!
yup, I seeeeng. wee. I also write songs.
@jorge, oo nga, blogger din sya! Thanks for the link. Yung girlfriend ba nya yung taga UP dati?
Cool yun!
@markku: nakita mo naman ung repertoire ko when we went to that karaoke place. π
@jorge: Enter. Your. URL. When. You. Comment. π
@benj: what Markku said. π
Rico, I was too drunk to recall anything now… hehehe.
Ang saya nmn ng string of comments na to. Wala lang. weird, binasa ko silang lahat. lol.
Mag move on na tayo guys! Respect na lang sa bawat isa, hehehe!
Anyway, nice seeing u at the event, Markku! Congrats for winning that award! π
Markku, Nice shot π
Joni, it was nice seeing you too! Sa next events ulit. π
Juned, thanks pre! Tsamba lang yan. Hehe.
@markku: di ko alam eh, baka nga. ewan.
