PISAY the Movie

Despite the fact that I almost haven’t watched a movie in a theater for more than six months now, Tulad Ng Dati being the lone exception, I have no excuse not to see this one: PISAY the Movie!

A finalist in the 2007 Cinemalaya, this film is from Auraeus Solito, more known for his previous work Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros which earned praises from all over the world. If you’re from Pisay or remotely connected to someone from that school, this film should augment your understanding of this rare breed of gifted individuals. Haha! I can’t be serious, di ba Shari? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m probably seeing this with my batchmates and maybe a few other friends. Here’s the screening sked:

PISAY

Trivia: Pop Ratio almost made it to the soundtrack, but we submitted our material just a little too late. We’re praying for an intergalactic abnormality though that would magically append one of our songs to the soundtrack. Or the ending credits. I wish. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. The movie trailer is also at YouTube. Whee. How much are the tickets? (O libre ba ‘to? Haha!)

Hay ganda ng timing. Nagsscramble ung batch namin ilabas ang yearbook namin (yes, unsurprisingly wala pa kaming yearbook) kay nagkakaroon kami ng impromptu reunion lately. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. ia, not sure about the ticket prices, not too expensive naman siguro. I’m sure it’s gonna be worth it anyway, basta wag lang siguro lalampas ng 500 per ticket. Haha!

Trebs, pwedeng–pwede, lalo na’t baby–faced ka pa rin, parang ka–edad mo lang yang mga yan… Hehehe.

  3. sorry for leaving a comment on this blog.. though i don’t know who owns this.. i just wanted to know what are the skeds of the movie..

anyways.. i was just concern about those who were asking about the prices.. i am a pisay student.. and yeah.. as told by our adviser, the price is 100 per ticket.. but if you are a pisay student.. just show your id and you’ll get instant discount.. and the price’ll be 50 php..

    again.. that’s all..:P

  4. what about the pisay alumni… especially those from the regional campuses… don’t we get a special discount of sorts as well… we wanna watch the movie too… please rep asap… thanks

we wanna see the movie too you know… shouldn’t the pisay system include us in the list of those who will get discounts… how will we prove that we were pisay graduates, the alumni id’s were not yet realeased as of now… thanks…

  5. abednego pitiquen, I think the discount applies to current students only, not the alumni, who I think can afford the 100 peso tickets. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Hi. The 50% discount is a STUDENT discount, applies to all students, not only of Pisay. So, grade school, highschool, college, or grad school. So long as you have a valid student ID, you get half off the ticket rate. See ya!

  7. if you cant make it to ccp, UP film institute is screening it too. mass comm students are selling tickets.

    yun lang… :P:P

    p.s.[visit my blog! “sinusundang pag-ibig

  11. “Pisay is a beautiful film, simple and sophisticated, direct and campy, one that gets better and better as it goes along. From the evidence gathered, the praise is valid for Filipino cinema as a whole, which is undergoing something of a renaissance.รขโ‚ฌย

by Emmanuel Burdeau Cahiers Du Cinema

Cahiers du Cinema is the most prestigious critic’s group in the world. They have declared that Filipino cinema is on the verge of a renaissance. But a renaissance needs hard work and in order to reach this renaissance, Philippine Independent Cinema needs an audience.

I am happy to say that”Pisay” recently won two awards in the 14th Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in France: The Grand Prix du Jury (Grand Prize of the International Jury) and the Prix du Public (Audience Prize).

Pisay will be shown February 20 รขโ‚ฌโ€œ27 exclusively at the following SM theaters:
SM North Edsa Cinema 8, SM Megamall Cinema 9, SM Manila Cinema 4, SM Southmall, SM Fairview Cinema 6 and SM San Lazaro Cinema 6

Help us reach the renaissance of Philippine Cinema. Please watch Pisay the Movie. Go to the Theatres on the first 3 days.

    Salamat po!
